Individual Therapy
For teens and adults 14+ in st. cloud and across MN
There has to be more to life than this…right?
You’ve been living with this anxiety, self-doubt, and uncertainty for a long time—so long that it’s difficult to remember a time without it.
You see it in your relationships.
You put your partner’s needs before your own, feeling selfish for standing up for yourself. You crave their approval and affection (and when you don’t get it, you spiral into cycles of uncertainty and self-blame). You’re tired of attracting toxic partners you know aren’t good for you.
You see it at work and at school.
Your standards for yourself are almost impossibly high—any sense of falling short feels like an epic failure. Despite overextending yourself to keep achieving, you never quite feel good enough.
You see it in the way you view yourself.
Your self-worth feels tied to the validation of others or your achievements, rather than feeling okay just as you are.
This doesn’t have to be “just the way life is.” Things can be different.
This is the beginning of loving yourself.
How individual therapy works
We’ll start by looking at what’s bringing you to therapy and how it’s impacting your life: when you first noticed it, how often it’s showing up in your day-to-day, and what you’ve done in the past to help address it.
And since so much of who we are is where we have been, I’ll also take the time to understand your story and what you’ve experienced. We’ll look at things like your childhood and early relationships and current or past romantic relationships and patterns. By examining these things, you can begin to draw connections between your past experiences and what you’re noticing in life today. This insight can be liberating.
Then, we’ll work on the areas you want to see change. We’ll discuss how you want your life to look, create a plan, and then build the skills and insight you need to make it happen. You’ll learn how to identify your triggers (and even see them coming ahead of time), so you can handle them in a way that aligns with your values and authentic self.

Imagine a life where…
You don’t feel defined by your struggles.
You understand the purpose that your anxiety, stress, or depression has served in the past, but know that it is not your identity.
You feel confident in who you are, just the way you are.
You no longer rely on your relationships or achievements for your self-worth. You know who you are, what’s important to you, and that you are worthy of happiness, connection, and joy.
You have healthy, fulfilling relationships.
You are comfortable asserting yourself and setting boundaries. You attract and cultivate relationships where you feel valued, not belittled.
Are you ready for something different, or more of the same?
Change is possible.

Common questions about individual therapy
-
Ethically, I do have to include a diagnosis in your client file. This is something you and I will discuss.
However, what’s most important is that you can begin to see yourself beyond just this condition or challenge—as something that’s part of you, but does not define you.
-
This varies from person to person. While my goal is that you begin gaining insight & skills that can be implemented early on in therapy, the length of time it takes to notice significant change varies depending on your circumstances. I work with most of my clients for at least 6 months, but we’ll discuss what this looks like for you individually, checking in regularly on your progress.
